Installation Error

Hi,
I've been trying to install geeklog and get the error
Geeklog could not find config.php in the path you just entered: /home/me/geeklog
Please check this path and try again.

The hint says
/home/me/public_html/my_page/admin/install/install.php

The config.php file is situated at /home/me/geeklog/config.php
Why isn't the file being found?

I know that there have been heaps of forum posts about this error and I've read many of them but haven't managed to solve the problem.

Is anyone out there able to give me more suggestions?

Thank you!

Make sure the /home/me/geeklog directory and the config.php file are readable.

You may want to try doing a chmod 755 /home/me/geeklog and chmod 644 config.php or you may need to make sure that the files are owned by the user your webserver is running as (i.e. use chown).

bye, Dirk

Thank you for your quick reply.

I changed the permissions and it fixed that problem.

I'm now getting the following error:

failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/me/public_html/mysite/admin/install/install.php on line 514

I've tried changing permissions of the files but it hasn't helped.

What should the permissions be?

Thanks,

Hannah

I thought I'd post the actual error message I'm getting:

Warning: main(/home/me/geeklog/config.php): failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/me/public_html/my_page/admin/install/install.php on line 514

Fatal error: main(): Failed opening required '/home/me/geeklog/config.php' (include_path='.:/usr/share/php:/usr/share/pear') in /home/me/public_html/my_page/admin/install/install.php on line 514

So config.php and the geeklog directory are readable?

Are you allowed to access files in directories other than your public_html directory? I know some hosts do not allow this. I would ask them.

Yes, I have online disk space and web page hosting so I can access files in directories other than my public_html directory. However, I don't seem to be able to change the ownership of my files...I'll check with my host.

Thanks
