Permissions question

Hi
I've asked this question at the end of my previous post but thought that I would ask it in a post with a relevant topic.

I'm trying to run install.php but get the following warning message:

Warning: main(/home/me/geeklog/config.php): failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/me/public_html/my_page/admin/install/install.php on line 514

Fatal error: main(): Failed opening required '/home/me/geeklog/config.php' (include_path='.:/usr/share/php:/usr/share/pear') in /home/me/public_html/my_page/admin/install/install.php on line 514

What permissions should the file (and other files in my Geeklog installation) have?

The current permissions for install.php are:
-rw-r--r--+

I'm sorry that I'm asking mundane questions. I've searched and searched the forum but haven't managed to come up with the right answers.

Hi,

I'm still trying to solve this problem...

When I run check.php I get:

Warning: main(/home/me/geeklog/config.php): failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/me/public_html/my_page/lib-common.php on line 69

Fatal error: main(): Failed opening required '/home/me/geeklog/config.php' (include_path='.:/usr/share/php:/usr/share/pear') in /home/me/public_html/my_page/lib-common.php on line 69

I've tried changing the permissions in various ways but don't really know what is required.

I would greatly appreciate any advice anyone is able to give me!

Thanks,

Hannah

Almost all of the files (and directories) only need to be readable for your webserver. So 644 for the files and 755 for the directories should work just fine.

In addition to that, you may need to use chown to make your webserver the owner of the files and directories. This is not something that's normally needed on shared hosting sites, but you could ask your hosting service if you still have problems.

The exceptions to the above rule are listed in the documenation, i.e. the few files and directories that Geeklog needs write access to, like the logs directory and the two .log files in it.

bye, Dirk

Hi, I've got same Hannas' errors.

Warning: main(): Unable to access /home/virtual/site27/fst/home/zcbvtqzj/geeklog/config.php in /home/virtual/site27/fst/var/www/html/portale/lib-common.php on line 70

Warning: main(/home/virtual/site27/fst/home/zcbvtqzj/geeklog/config.php): failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/virtual/site27/fst/var/www/html/portale/lib-common.php on line 70

Fatal error: main(): Failed opening required '/home/virtual/site27/fst/home/zcbvtqzj/geeklog/config.php' (include_path='.:/php/includes:/usr/share/php') in /home/virtual/site27/fst/var/www/html/portale/lib-common.php on line 70

I'm sure that paths are correct and privileges too...
Please help me!
