Disabling new user self-creation?
Hi,
I want to make it so the admin only can create new user accounts. I've clamped down all user rights, but I don't want the general public to be able to create their own accounts without going through me.
Can this be done, and how?
Thanks!

in your config,php -
// Submission Settings
// enable (set to 1) or disable (set to 0) submission queues:
$_CONF['usersubmission'] = 1;

I've already got that set up, but if someone manually types in an URL
http://www.mygeeklog.com/users.php?mode=new
then they can create an account.
The only thing they can really do is create it and have their personal calendar, but I'd still like to tighten this up so they can't create it using that URL.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding, then. If I want to disable user self-creation, do I need to set:
$_CONF['usersubmission'] = X;
to 0 or 1?
EDITED: I get it now - I had it backwards.
Thanks!

I also went one step further. I rewrote /layout/template/users/registrationform.thtml to say sorry we are not accepting users at this time. Is this secure?

It was a joke! Sheesh, no sense of humor.
P.S. If you'd like to know how to really disable story submissions, just let me know.
