How to Have Blocks in multiple topics...but not ALL

Is there a way that I can make a Block that will appear in a selected set of toipcs, but not in ALL topics? I see in admin where I can set a block for a speciffic topic, but I would like a block to remain for a series of topics. How can I do that?

I guess it might depend on what kind of block you are talking about, but could you make a number of blocks with the same content and just have one for each topic where you want it to appear?
