I installed the geeklog version 1.3.9 and uses the smpt mailsettings. I have the problem, that a new user, that wants to register to my side, doesn?t get a email with his username and password. In the error.log file I get the message:
[pear_error: message="unable to set sender to [@]" code=0 mode=return level=notice prefix="" info=""]
The other email functions works fine.
Can anyone help?
Thanxx

I found the solution by myself. The problem was, that the name of my site was exactly the same as the name of my domain. E.p. name of my page:'mysite' and the domain: 'mysite'. That's why I got that problem. So be sure to choose another name of your page than your domainname.

Does your mail stuff work at all? (like sending a mail to a user via users.php)
If not, you could try to use "localhost" instead of your server name in the smtp settings.

oh, btw: you didn't set $_CONF['usersubmission'] to 1?

my mail stuff
huuuh
at first i used 'mail'
it didn't work at all (after upgrade) ... don't ask me why.
i changed to 'sendmail', but forgot to enter args
so i changed to smtp (here i knew the args)
*** 'auth' => false, is this OK?
*** this, seems to me, shuld be true (or something, couse i must use a username & password)
i don't even know what got into me to look at the logs, where i found the pear error everywhere (probably beacuse of the false arg).
so i copied args for sendmail (from one other script) && enabled sendmail again
TESTED IT OUT
and now it looks like it is working
well ... the errors are gone & i got 2 emails to my inbox
i have
$_CONF['usersubmission'] = 0;
bottom line ... is it possible that false thingy coused me trouble?
errors
and that it should be true, if i must use user & pass

I get the samee error when someone registers:
[pear_error: message="unable to set sender to [@]" code=0 mode=return level=notice prefix="" info=""]
mail setup is set to smtp when these errors occur, but setting it to mail it works fine. Strange SMTP was working with the last version of 1.3.8. The only reason I caught on was the fact that newly registered users never logged in.
Now if it is the case of the site name being same of the domain name, isn't this a bug? Because I need the site name as the domain name. I cannot test this theory because this "gremlin" has slowed me down enough.
