OK, I've launched my site, people are flocking to it, and everything's going great. But I would like a tool that runs on a couple of computers here and there and fetches the home page every minute and emails me if the site goes down.
There are a zillion tools out there that do this, but most of them are either cheap and bad, or way too expensive. I'm looking for one that's in the $20-30 range. All it has to be able to do is GET a page every minute, keep a log of what it's done, email me if the site goes down (on a user-configurable SMTP port), and email me again if it comes back up. The license agreement has to allow me to run it on two computers.
The closest thing I've found is something called WebUptime, but it doesn't seem to have a user-configurable SMTP port, and the license agreement is only for one computer, so I'd have to buy two copies.
Does anyone out there actually run something like this against their geeklog site? Can you recommend the thing you run?
