Is it possible to install everything in public_html?

Thats my question Question

Because I only have access to my public_html-folder at my provider I cannot write to the none public folders above public_html.

So is it possible to install everything in public_html?

Thanks a lot! Idea

It is possible to do that. The one thing is: it might not be quite as secure.

ok the last hour i tried to configure config.php but never the less i cannot fix the following problem:

"Template Error: set_root: geeklog/public_html/layout/XSilver is not a directory.
Halted."

config.php:
$_CONF['path'] = 'http://localhost/geeklog/';
$_CONF['path_html'] = 'geeklog/public_html/'; !!!causes the error!!!
$_CONF['site_url'] = 'http://localhost';
$_CONF['path_system'] = '../system/';
...

the admin/index.php also doesn't work.

Now I am thinking that I am stupid.

Please help me or I will programm my own geeklog ;-)

You should enter a path here, not a URL.

All the paths should be absolute paths, not relative paths.

curious because without using a single GL core for multiple installs, i'll have to use this type of install in my subdomains.

Yes, exactly. This has been discussed before, btw.

Put everything that's outside of Geeklog's public_html into a new folder inside of your document root, adjust your paths accordingly and use a .htaccess to secure that new directory with a password.

To repeat: This is only the second best option - use it only if you can't create directories outside of your document root.
