Story Admin enabled, but can not edit stories

hello

after a new installation (w/ the gallery integration) one of my users who is a story admin can create stories, but then is unable to edit them.

the user is the owner of the stories, and all visible indicators show that he is indeed a story admin... any ideas what this is?

They must also be in a group with edit permissions for the topic to which the story belongs.
