How do I:
Thanks!
- Assign groups as default for guest users?
- Assign groups as default for logged on users?
Thanks!

You can set these through your config.php file and lib-common.php files.

Those files (at least config) have nothing to do with it...

You can not modify the permissions or rights of core groups such as "Logged-in Users" - via the admin interface.
I developed the GroupPermissions Block to do this. With this you can add other permisisons such as filemgmt.upload

You misunderstood me. I didn't mean to change present groups, but to add users into new groups per default.
For example, I've created a new group called "Bla Group" and I want everyone, logged on users AND guest users to be a part of it.
How do I accomplish it?
In addition, how can I do it for just one of them (i.e. logged on users OR guest users, but not both)?

I have the same question. I've created a new group which I would like every user to be a member of. I'd like new members to be a member automatically also.
I went to groups -> edit and checked
-all users
-logged-in users
in the security groups check boxes.
However, neither old nor new users default into my new group. What am I doing wrong?
