Installation Help Please!! Benighted newbie in Tokyo

Hi All. I am a newbie to servers and installing programs on them, especially Open Source programs. I’m running community websites as a service for two American organizations in Japan, and then I also need to build my company site. And I need to get at least rudimentary pages up by Monday...and once geeklog is up, I have to install http://phpadsnew.com/two/ (PHPAdsNew), and then http://phpesp.sourceforge.net/ (for surveys). Scary for a newbie, but I’m hoping you can help...

Here's where I am so far:

I installed (with the help of a friend who’s a Windows server guy) as much as I could of the geeklog script:http://www.geeklog.net/docs/install.html
I was able to find the config.php and lib-common.php files and changed the requisite code.
But, when it came time to actually install (via Instruction#7: http://yourgeeklogsite/admin/install/install.php), the database doesn’t completely install, and nothing I do seems to help.
I’m working on a PowerBook G4, in Safari, if that helps. I don’t have Telnet, but it seems as if, if the database URL worked, the instructions would tell me how to “run the script”.

Help will be much, much appreciated. Oh, the URL is: 216.92.41.40 (http://www.de-ipro.jp doesn't work yet) and Pair.com is the host.

Thanks,
Terri

It looks like a path problem in your lib-common file. It says there is a parse error around line 75 (which should be right near the path you changed). Check that area for a parse error.
