Leftblock Theme Color

Trying to change color of the leftblocks to one solid color. Here is the leftblock.thtml file:
{geeklog_blocks}
<br><img src="{site_url}/images/speck.gif" width="150" height="1" alt="">
</td>
What should I do so that the left block has a background color of "#346633". Tried bgcolor="#346633" after the TD tag, but it didn't do it for me. In the header.thtml there is a line near the very bottom that affects the left blocks, but it affects all blocks too.
Any help, appreciatied.
Text Formatted Code
<td class="featureblock" colspan="2">{geeklog_blocks}
<br><img src="{site_url}/images/speck.gif" width="150" height="1" alt="">
</td>

Create a new class in the CSS for the leftblock maybe??
Currently you have a class of class="featureblock" if you create a new one with the specs your looking for wouldn't that work??

I could even alter the featureblock class. I just don't know what to do to get the effect I'd like (I simply want left blocks with a solid background). I tried background: #xxxxxx, but nothing changed.
Thanks for replying!

My Professional theme has two different blocks and so does my APV-Aeon theme. If you download my Professional theme from http://aeonserv.com and check the theme's root folder you'll notice 4 files.
blockheader-left.thtml
blockfooter-left.thtml
blockheader-right.thtml
blockfooter-right.thtml
If you look into the functions.php file you'll find the code required to seperate the design of the left and right blocks. I hope this helps shine some light on your project.
