"An SQL error has occured. Please see error.log for details." This is the message people get when they try to load my Geeklog page. I was just updating a few days back, and all of a sudden this error popped up. I can't do any updates, or use my site, please help someone. Thanks.

"1064: You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'AND (tid NOT IN ('GeekLog')) ORDER BY sortnum' at line 1. SQL in question: SELECT tid,topic,owner_id,group_id,perm_owner,perm_group,perm_members,perm_anon FROM gl_topics AND (tid NOT IN ('GeekLog')) ORDER BY sortnum "

Any pointers would be great. I can't wait to start using GeekLog. Thanks!

How do I find error.log? Sorry, I really have no clue, I know. This is my band's site (whitfield.tk), and the guy that runs it is gone for the week, so I am a bit clueless.

I ended up wiping the database and running the install script again, and most features are now working.
Still have a problem changing my Admin account info (and I don't think anyone will be able to sign up as a new user) because of the mail problem I've got, but at this point I've got a blog happening. I'm enjoying tweaking my GeekLog, too.
Once I've got it all fixed up, I'll drive by and show it off.

I get the same error when I try to edit a story submission as admin...
Here's what I get when I run: tail ./geeklog/logs/error.log

Also, as Admin I can't submit or edit submitted stories, I'm wondering if it is a related problem.
.:Edit:.
The problems do seem to have been linked...it seemed to have been a permissions thing for me...I posted what I did to fix the latter problem
here.

Can I please ask everyone not to "hijack" other people's threads? There are at least three different problems discussed in this thread now and it's very confusing.
Whitfield: Geeklog's error.log file is in the "logs" directory in your Geeklog directory (i.e. where your config.php resides). Every time an SQL error occurs, Geeklog logs the offending SQL request in that file.
bye, Dirk

You say that like I should have a rough idea what your talking about Dirk.
I don't...
Is this file on my computer? I can't find it in search. Is it on the internet? No one has told me any addresses.

It's on the webserver where Geeklog is installed. If you don't have access to that server (through ftp or ssh), I'm afraid you'll have to wait until the person who has access returns.
Without the information from error.log, it's next to impossible to tell what the problem is (especially as it happens on the front page - I had a quick look at your site).
bye, Dirk

Dirk,
Sorry for hijacking. Didn't mean to confuse the issue.
