One of my web sites is no longer able to send e-mail from the mail-users function to a specific domain. The e-mail is rejected with this message:
I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message
to the following addresses.
This is a permanent error; I've given up.
Sorry it didn't work out.
(address and IP info) failed after I sent the message.
Remote host said: 550 5.5.0 Mail rejected for container policy reasons.
Obviously this is some setting on the receiving server. The domain email administrator won't explain why the email is rejected.
Anyone else seen this message? Anyone have any ideas on what I could change in Geeklog to fix this?
Not only can I not send e-mail to registered users on that domain, but I expect no one on that domain will be able to register since I will be unable to send the registration email to them.

Quote by Dirk: Also, which method are you using to send emails? Did you try switching to SMTP?
This is a 1.3.8 install. I don't believe I'm using Pear (and I confess I don't know what Pear is anyway).
I moved from one Linux server to another Linux server just before this started. That is an obvious candidate for the problem. However, I've got no idea what the server issue would be and the admins on the domain that's rejecting the mail haven't been helpful.
It is only mail sent from Geeklog that is blocked. I can email addresses within the domain from other mailers without problem.

I don't know if its relevant to your problem but I changed servers, which changed my ip address. The old owner of the ip address was a known spammer. My new ip address was blocked by just about every spam blocker, so no email from my site would work with several domains (sounds similar to your problem). I requested a new ip address from my hosting company and after a bit of a hassle they gave me one and I haven't had issues since.
Yes I am mental.

Three months later . . .
It turns out the problem _may_ have been virus software in the firewall that sits in front of the mail server.
Once I finally got someone to reply to my queries I found out that the mail server was never getting the mail.
The firewall virus program became the suspect and after "patches" were applied to the firewall virus program, I am now able to send email from the Geeklog site to this domain.
