I've installed quite a few databases without much problem. I have to say, this one was the most confusing ... but I also like the features of GL very much so it was worth the extra headaches
The only way I was finally able to get it to work though was by installing everything into the same directory (I installed to a subdirectory for my testing).
I know that isn't as secure, but am wondering if I include an htaccess file with something like the following in it for all of my "sensitive" files ... shouldn't that be secure?
<Limit GET>
deny from all
</Limit>
</Files>
Thanks for your help.

That should help. But, why don't you just get you feet wet now with whatever setting is convenient for you and improve it later because you can easily move the gl files with just a few changes in the config.php and lib-common.php.
I remember my first geeklog site (two years ago) was set up like you did because my webhost then didn't allow directories behind public_html. Later, I wanted the freedom so I became a webhost myself.
Playing around with your GL and you will be set fee once you get use to it.

Thanks Sam.
I do plan on playing around with the settings ... but to be honest, I was just so RELIEVED to finally have it up ... that I'm not gonna mess with anything for a bit.
I've had my eyes on GL for quite awhile and am glad to have it up. Now that it's up and working ... I can take my time playing with the settings.
Would love to see your site........ can you post the link?
Thanks!
