Is there any documentation that exists for newbies on how to manage/configure geeklog after installation? I am figuring this out as I go along and keep running into hurdles.
I have a few questions about the Geek. First, check out http://www.danwade.com/index.php
You'll notice that I created a block called Sections. My question is how to I manipulate the data in the blocks. I know how to create blocks, how to order them and I'm still trying to figure out how to change the header and footer (I'm trying to GUI/figure out this dam PHP/text???).
What I want to do is this...
Look at the sections block (Top left hand block). I filled in content (I.E. my resume, etc.). I want to Link the resume so when you click on it, it shows up in the center of the webpage (I.E. between the blocks in the middle). I think that this works throught the PHP scripting, but how can you configure this directly?
Second question is how do I manipulate the header (I.E. resize so my logo is bigger, move the Nav bar underneath my logo. I'm using the Quicksilver theme for now. I also want to change some of the text in the Nav Bar, link so data shows in the middle block (b/w the R and L blocks).
Third is how do I show site statistics. Is there a block that does this already that I have to import. If so, how?
Forth is that I want to create all my useful links. I think that I can do this straight from the links block, but I have yet to figure it out. I want to create little Subject headers for the links (I.E. Apps/Utilities, and have the links underneath that header. Just look at my current links page on www.danwade.com and you'll see what I'm talking about).
I know that these are all loaded questions, but I'm looking for the basics. Kinda difficult to find the Howto's as they mostly define what a block is, how to create/move, but don't define how to use them in terms of creating links to populate in the middle window as my main interface.
Sorry to overload, but I want to make this work cause then afterwards (I'm going to start blogging - which the next phase is, can I import pictures into my blogs? Think Livejournal)
Please email me at: dan@danwade.com.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!! I really like Geeklog and the use and usefulness it offers.
Thanks,
Dan Wade
