Urgent - Removing Comments

Dear All

My sites (using gl 1.3. have been invaded by a sick spammer who has added multiple comments to many of my news stories containing thousands of links to obscene porn sites. I generally disable comments and therefore cannot understand how so many have got through (must be an oversight on my part).

Is there a quick way to flush the system of comments please? I will be moving over to 1.3.9 by the end of the month but that will not get rid of the comments.

Many thanks

MrB

He/she stricks again. Look at the forum for comment spam.

Using mysql directly (however you do it) enter something like this

delete from gl_comments where comment like "%someporno%";

Of course replace someporno with what is in the comment.

The quickest way is probably to delete them from the database directly (using phpMyAdmin, for example). Although then the number of comments displayed for those stories that originally had those comments would be off (i.e. still count the then deleted comments).

You must have missed the previous discussion of those spammers and the 1.3.8-1sr5 release, btw ...

bye, Dirk

Many thanks - I have deleted using Empty in phpadmin (fortunately nobody bothers posting comments generally).
