All,
I've found how to change the forum posts so they have an alternating color for each post but was wondering if its possible to do the same thing with topics under each forum.?

The forum CSS and templates that are supplied should have already had alternating colors for the post listing in a topic - maybe you meant you found how to change the colors.

The topic listing has a roll-over effect currently so it would be a bit more involved but still do-able. You would need to create some new CSS declarations and then modify the index.php to set a template variable like {css_id} list I used in the post listing templates to alternate the CSS used.
