Hey I am trying to make a Navigational Menu on the left of my page. www.morech.com I currently have...
Navigation
Home
News & Updates (3/0)

I have no clue how to add more links under this or take some out. It is overly fustrating. I've browsed the forums for hours and I have not found anything about this. I know a few of you are going to tell me to read installation manuals... I have tried that as well. I can't find anything about that. In my quest when i was looking around in the forums I saw the talk about the Block Menu.... so i downloaded it... followed the instructions to a T... and i got rid of the majority of the errors except...
Warning: main(home/httpd/vhosts/morech.com/httpdocs/lib-common.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/httpd/vhosts/morech.com/httpdocs/admin/plugins/blockmenu/install.php on line 31

Fatal error: main(): Failed opening required 'home/httpd/vhosts/morech.com/httpdocs/lib-common.php' (include_path='.:/usr/share/pear') in /home/httpd/vhosts/morech.com/httpdocs/admin/plugins/blockmenu/install.php on line 31

And this is my code in my install.php.
require_once('home/httpd/vhosts/morech.com/httpdocs/lib-common.php');
require_once('home/httpd/vhosts/morech.com/httpdocs/plugins/blockmenu/conf/config.php');
$langfile = $_CONF['path'] . 'plugins/blockmenu/language/' . $_CONF['language'] . '.php';
if (file_exists ($langfile)) {

Now I am lost on what to do. I see that this site has several menu choices to the left. How can I do the same?
I am just beyond fustration and so I going to my last resort.... posting here myself.
Thanks in advance,
Sean

One more thing i left out when talking about the blockmenu script. I am in the process of installation... through the admin/plugins. I click install and that is when i get the errors.

Well you have several questions here in this post. I'll answer a couple of them.

1) The Resources block on this site - top left, is just a basic block with HTML in it. Create a new block and add any HTML you want - these are just HTML A tag lines

2) The sections block is a core GL block that is created by the COM_siteTopics() function and it shows all the Site Topics. It's not possible to change this content without modifying the function code. This is very do-able but is site custom.

3) The Menu Plugin you noted offers an alternative and allows you to combine several menus into one block and add user-defined links as well.

Additionally, I have developed a Menu Builder Plugin called glMenu. It has a lot of functionality but requires the Javscript to be enabled. You can see and demo the menu on my demo site demo.portalparts.com

I thank you for your quick reply. I am going to try out the glmenu as soon as i can d/l it.

In your reply

I tried doing so but it split my next block down in half, and then threw everythign that was in the center below everything on the left. It just threw my layout all out of whack.

Where can edit this? What is the directory of this particular file?

I couldn't get past the installation.

Thanks again for your time!
I'll let you know how your script works!

Thanks,
Sean

Then your HTML was faulty. Be careful with missing closing tags (espcially table tags).

You shouldn't really modify Geeklog's core functions. If you don't like the default Topics block, install one of the available plugins that Blaine mentioned (the Menu plugin is free, btw).

bye, Dirk
