Hi there,

I hope this isn't a FAQ. I searched the site but didn't find anything similar. I'm actually pretty sure this is a simple one.

I have geeklog 1.3.9 working on an OpenBSD web server (running in chroot) on one server. I decided to move this web server to another, faster server. I rsync'ed the /var/www/htdocs folder from one server to the other. (So I never actually installed Geeklog on the new server, figuring it wouldn't be necessary, which so far doesn't seem to be necessary.)

Then I "chown -R" 'ed all the folders to the www user. Then I did a dump of the database on the working server and imported the database dump to the target server. I can see the tables listed in in the "new" database, and nothing appears out of the ordinary.

I actually got the web server to load geek log, and I can log in with my account. _But_ if I try to access the forums, I get something about "Forum Access Error: Topic does not exist. It possibly has been deleted". I grep'ed the db dump for stuff I knew was in the forum, and I see it. I also see the forum and topics mentioned in the forum stats in the forum admin menu, so I'm sure it's there.

In addition to the error above, whenever I try to add a new story, I get this when clicking "save": " Sorry, you do not have access to the story administration page. Please note that all attempts to access unauthorized features are logged" which is odd b/c I'm logged in with a user account that has complete access to the system, and who can see the "admin home", etc.

Can anyone tell me why I might be getting these errors? I can't see anything in folder/file permissions that would be causing it, and I'm using the same exact MySQL username/password on the new DB as I was on the old DB....as well as the same dbname.

Thanks in advance for any clues.

Dave

P.S. I've subsequently upgraded to 1.3.9sr1 on the new server hoping that would kick it into gear, but I see no change in the behavior.

Okay, I feel like an ass...It turns out that I'd not set certain properties in the new server's php.ini (such as register globals=on, and the memory settings, etc). Fixing that fixed this issue.

well, I'm still having issues and as I'm still kindof a n00b to PHP I need a little more hand holding. :-P

I'm getting these same errors and I know that my server admin has the register_globals=off (trying to tell him to turn it on) but is there any other way to resolve this error? I still have the posts, but they are inacessible now when I tried to move them to another forum.

HELP!
