well unless i am doing something very wrong geeklog dose not run using php5 with apache as a modual (sapi) on windows
Apache though works just fine
what seams to be happining is index.php is not being run . insted mozilla(and IE) want to save the file ,and ask what program to use
P.S. the php5 dir is exactly the same layout as php4 --no go
when the layout is the same as the .zip and httpd.conf ,php.ini are edited to mach----still no go
so for now back to 4

This sounds like a server setup issue. You'll probably have the same problem with any PHP script, not just with Geeklog.
Make sure you've set the correct type for .php files and that they are parsed, etc. The usual PHP setup issues ...
bye, Dirk

I agree with Dirk that this sounds like a configuration issue on your web server. The fact that the file is trying to be downloaded implies that apache is not aware it should use PHP to interpret the file.
If a simple php file, such as:
<?php phpinfo(); ?>
has the same behavior I'd say that would prove what Dirk and I are saying.
