Install Stalled

I am doing a new install and get the following error:
1146: Table 'tablename.gl_vars' doesn't exist.

Has anyone seen this? I've been searching the database and don't find any reference to this problem. Note: I tried deleting all files, downloading a new copy (v1.3.9sr1) and using winRAR to expand files. Got the same error as before. I am trying to install on a web hosted unix server.

Did you delete the database when you deleted all your files?
Are you not entertained?

Did you run the install script? Did you get any errors when you did?

This has nothing to do with file permissions or defective tarballs. The problem is database related. Make sure, for example, that your database user has the proper permissions to create tables.
