I must say i'm mighty impressed with geeklog.. I just installed it a few days ago for the first time and its awesome.. I used postnuke for quite a while on other sites and I must say i'm already finding this way easier to use and configure..
anyways.. I started off modifying a theme XSilver to fit my new template and I finaly got it pretty close to the way I wanted.. I still have more work to do tweaking, but the problem i'm running into is the alert/message box that sometimes appears in the center column (such as to display the signout message)..
how do i control this? does it use the blockheader/footer code?
also.. is it possible to seperate left_blocks and right_blocks to use different blockheader/footer templates? i'd like the right blocks to have a different look than the left blocks..
any help would be appreciated..

There's a way to override the block templates which solves both of your problems. A link to a forum post explaining how you can have different left and right blocks is actually in the Tips and tricks section of the theme documentation.
Some themes already use that technique (e.g. Simple Orange) - take a look at how they did it.
The same technique can be used to override the system message block templates, using '_msg_block' as the block name.
bye, Dirk
