Two Digest Questions:
1. How do I know that all emails go out?

2. What caused the following error:

When I only had a couple of dozen subscribers, my weekly digests went out without a problem.

Within a week, I now have hundreds. (Good problem to have). I now get this response from my cronjob that says:

Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /home/inspire/public_html/stkweb/lib-common.php on line 3307

I think everyone is getting the email because my visitor stats jump through the roof the day of the mailing.

Geeklog stores the date and time of the last successful send in the database. When people start getting duplicate notifications, then the send operation did not succeed ...

You can also use my Manual Digest plugin. It displays the date and time of the last successful send and also how many entries the next digest will have (i.e. how many stories will be in there).



The problem is that sooner or later, you'll hit the max. execution time that your hosting service has granted for the cronjob. It's hard to tell where the limit is, as it depends on so many factors. But if you start getting spurious errors, you are probably at or over that limit ...

This item is open for research and contribution for anyone willing to invest some time and effort into it ...

I think I found the cause of the problem. Three subscribers used their email addresses as usernames. Having the same username and email address caused a problem. Or, is "@" an illegal character in a username?

I manually changed those usernames (and sent updates to those members). The last digest went out without a hitch!
