SQL error from install.php

I am getting the following error when trying to run the install.php script:

1048: Column 'is_enabled' cannot be null

I'm not sure how to correct this. Can anyone provide some advice?

I am running MySQL 4.0.13

I'm afraid I have no explanation - that shouldn't been happening ...
