Hey guys,

Does anyone know how to create a button with links under "Admin Only". If so, could please tell me where should go and edit the code to have buttons. And plus how to restrict certain users accessing from that page.

NOt sure what you mean. Do you want buttons instead of the links?

That can be done by changing the adminoption.thtml and adminoption_option.html template files.

Geeklog already does that for you. Only those users that have Admin permissions will see the block in the first place. And if you make someone, say, a Story Admin, they will only see the links for Story Admins but not e.g. the link to the user list.

You the know the button you see under 'Admins Only'
exampels:

Submissions
Stories
Blocks
Topics
Links
etc ..

I want to create my own button something like that, and links to my own pages, with wrap around of geeklog

Ah, okay. I wouldn't call them "buttons", though. Those are simple text links.

Write a plugin.

The only official way at least. You don't need to implement all the plugin API functions, btw. Only pick those that you need.

The unofficial way would be to hack Geeklog, but then you'd have to do all your changes again when you upgrade to a later version.

An easy alternative would be to create a block with admin only privilages and place your links in there. You can easily set it up to appear right below or above your Admin Block so it's easy to find.

I actually have a number of blocks with reference material and news feeds that only I see when I log on as an admin. It's a good way to manage your site and your info.
