No error install on a LAMP server
Two issues remain.
1. Users cannot change thier own passwords or any information - in the ./usersettings.php?mode=edit screen. Changes in the ./usersettings.php?mode=preferences screen seem to work fine. No error messages - just any changes made are not saved.
2. Admin - or any user created and designated as story admin - cannot edit or change stories in the - ./admin/story.php?mode=edit - screens. Again no erro messages or anything - just any changes made are not saved. Oddly enough - I created a test user and submitted a story via - get published - and as admin was able to approve it and publish.
globals is on - and I've double cheacked everything and read the faqs and other forum messaages..

As far as I can tell - the problem seems to be with two files: ./admin/stories.php and ./usersettings.php
I've verified funtionality of everything else and anything that calls on those two php files just does not work.
I can add users and change thier passwords and settings throught the user.php file (by clicking on users and editing them, when logged on as an admin) But users, including the admin, cannot change their own settings. (no error message - just no changes saved)
And if someone (non admin) submits a story through the "get published" link (which uses submit.php not story.php) it will work fine too - an admin can login and approve and then publish the story.
I'm fairly confident that MySQl is configured correctly - I've got phpMyAdmin installed and a couple other fairly large db's running - plus the fact that I can change users and add stories if I avoid two particular php files is I think a significant clue - if permissions werre not set correctly I don't think anything would be able be saved or changed - and that's not the case.
