I keep getting this message, everytime I try to access my new Geeklog website:

Is there a way I can stop this hapenning? Is it the server of my hosting account or is it a problem with Geeklog?

How can I stop it from doing this?

Warning: mysql_connect(): Too many connections in /home/sites/mironline.co.uk/public_html/index/_files/system/databases/mysql.class.php on line 108
Cannnot connect to DB server

Thanks - A MEGA CRY for HELP. The hosting provider that I'm with provided Gecklog for me, but should I restart and downloaded from this website instead? (Do you think that this would work, becuase maybe the hosting companies copy if defaulted or something)

Its open to you...

Try first to switch off in config.php the "showstorycount" and the "showsubmissioncount".

This can reduce your database load if you have many articles/topics. Do you have other scripts that access the database that show a different/the same behavior?

You may also have to repair your database. I know I've run into myself a few times and once I ran a repair tool on it everything was fine.

I think the sessions table became corrupt.

I have had no other problems, but this. I will try what you have said and get back to you.

I doubt it will help, though.

When you get "too many connections" then you either have a lot of visitors or a very restrictive setting for the max. number of database connections (or both).

Geeklog is already pretty economic with its database connections and there isn't anything that lets you fine-tune it. Try talking to your hosting service ...

bye, Dirk

I have the same problem and having inherited the website from a previous student (it is a college forums) I have no idea how to access the required files to fix the problem.

Is there a set way to deal with this, do I have to find a computer it is installed on or how could I find where it is installed on the web site itself?

If you're getting the "too many connections" message, then there isn't really anything that you can edit in Geeklog - see my explanation above. You'll have to edit your MySQL configuration or ask your hosting service to do it for you.

bye, Dirk
