ive tried mail & smtp neither work. under mail i get this error:

'Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /var/www/html/lib-common.php on line 3268'

under smtp i get that it cant connect to smtp server. this might be blocked by the isp, but not sure.

Try $_CONF['have_pear'] = false; and $_CONF['have_pear'] = true; and also check your error.log for any email-related error messages.
