dear all, GL at first look appears great to me - i am thinking of abandoning phpnuke and i will like to know from the users here whether i can have the following directly ( or with the use of hacks ) with GEEKLOG
a cms which will have


runs with both reg glob on and off

submission of news along with submission of image in the same go
by both registered users and guests in their own names provided the name has not been taken up by registered users

inbuilt forum with quick reply, pm , online status indicator, avtars, 'add a topic to my favorite' folder ( like xmb forums ) for registered users

inbuilt image gallery with 'add an image to my fav or add to my album' and ability to send ecard OR integrable with 4images gallery

calendar to post public eevents and personal calendar for personal reminders with easy deletion of old events

easily installable plugin to have "classified ads" ( like matchmakers )


all the above are essential, added advantage will be -
ability to allow users to have their own journals
ability to have an address book which will integrate with ecards
ability to have integrable wiki which will use the same database
ability to add a news to 'my favorite news' folder
ability to turn off or on htmlarea for news submission
abilty to have any stuff shift anywhere to right , central, upper menus

Not yet, right now we require reg globals to be turned on. We have yet to experience a major security compromise as a result though.


This can be done by registered users, but not by anonymous users. It will require some changing of the default permissions that are shipped with Geeklog however.


A forum and PM plugins are both available. I believe that between the two they have all the features you ask for (though I'm not positive).


There are integrations for geekog to work with Gallery, 4Images and other php based photo galleries. I'm not sure which, if any, of those will fullful your requirements.

Yes there is a classifieds plugin, no I don't know what its current status is (production, alpha, beta, ?)


There is a journal plugin, I'm not sure what its status is.


I think the address book plugin was working towards this. I'm not sure what its current status is.


I'm pretty sure that such a wiki doesn't exist.


Doesn't exists yet (as far as I know), but wouldn't be difficult to add.


There is an htmlarea hack, but I don't know the details of how it works.


You can modify the themes in many ways. I've seen hacked version of Geeklog do 2 column and "alternative" three column layouts. Users however can not customize block locations (but can customize which blocks appear).

Or, perhaps another nice classified ads script?

That's one feature I need, too, badly.
