Hi all, I setup a new website using GL, which was working fine up until this past Saturday, no changes where made on that day or before it.

Now when users register they're not receiving the e-mail with the password, and when they click on forgot password either. However, if you mail through the contact us link or a user profile it's working fine.

Any ideas?

Well, I compared my phpinfo files from the two servers I'm on at the same host and they are identical, and the mail portion works on the other server.

Another update. It won't send outside of the domain. If I put in an email address of test@the-harbour.ca I receive the email. If tries to send outside of the system it fails.

Check to make sure that the email address you use in $_CONF['site_mail'] contains no strange characters. Occasionaly problematic characters include single quotes (') and periods/dots (.).

Let us know if this fixes the problem, and what characters you removed/changed.

Thanks,
Vinny

The e-mail address is fine. It worked before up until Saturday and I hadn't made any changes. I've contacted the host as it appears to be an issue on their end because it'll send it to harbour e-mail addresses, but anything external fails. I'll let you know what happens once I get a response from them.

Just a quick update. The host has still had no luck although they've claimed to have resolved it about 4 times.

Does anyone run their own server (Apache, php 4.3.9, Linux) that would no where I could point them to figure this out?

This thread may be helpful. Not especially the last few posts on page two and the first post on page 3.

I must thank you Vinny. I didn't realize that my server required auth for smtp. However, the other methods which worked (mail() and sendmail) worked fine for 2 weeks then it just stopped.

Thanks to the GL developers for having 3 solutions for people who run into this issue.
