I need to hide some of the info shown at the top of the page when a story is shown. the info I am talking about is

Contributed by:
Views:

Which file would I need to edit.

For the contribution line, there's an option in config.php:

$_CONF['contributedbyline'] = 1; // If 1, show contributed by line

Setting this to 0 will hide the contribution line from stories and comments (and a few other places).

If you only want to get rid of it in stories, edit the story template files in your theme (same goes for date and views).
