I would like to upgrade my site to the new release. Is it a good time to do this. I also want to find someone to do the upgrade for me. I have a few hacks I would like to be able to transfer. One is the links hack and the other is a calendar hack. If possible I would like to find and use the calendar upgrade I was told about, but can't find. Can someone get back to me and tell me how much you will charge to upgrade my site. Thank you in advance for any help you can give me. My site is at http://www.iantiquesguide.com.

Jack

Jack, if you are on v1.2, you are very far behind! There's a new major release coming soon, so you could consider waiting a period of time, but you're so far out it might not be bad to upgrade to the latest release of 1.3.9.
If you upgrade, be advised that you'll also be recommended to upgrade again to 1.3.10 in a fairly short time, so you'll upgrade twice in a fairly short time.
Important note--I started using geeklog long after 1.2, it's possible you have a very painful upgrade path from 1.2 to anything remotely current, because there may be painful database transitions for you. Others will know better than I.
Good luck!

My version of GL--and if you're real old it might be different--has an "Admins Only" block that shows up after I log in with an admin account, this is the same block where I can approve submissions, admin users, and like things.
My version shows it as a line "GL Version Test (1.3., it's also clickable &
it checks my current version against the latest release.
ALSO - in the course of researching the patches I'm trying to apply, I found some documentation that has some info regarding your upgrade path if you're truly on 1.2.
Go to http://www.geeklog.net/docs/install.html and find the section on "Upgrade Instructions", line item 5 talks about database upgrades.
Luck! tstockma

Doh! Sorry I checked into 1.2 & said so much.
Apply all patches to 1.3.9, many are for security. Wait for 1.3.10 to come out & upgrade. An old IT'ers tip--don't upgrade until you see others have done it & it worked well.

You asked about GL2 so....
GL2 is still quite a ways off. There isn't even complete Alpha code, though some components are nearing completion. Don't look for a gamma GL2 for at least six months, and likely a bit longer than that.
