I'm somewhat new to geeklog, about a year ago I started setting up a site, no DNS service but I was able to set up and test. I'm delighted with the product!
Finally last week tore into developing enough content I could "publish" the site, so DNS routing propogated this morning.
I've poked around this site, looking for general update info, and what I've seen hasn't answered a few questions...point me to articles or docs if they exist that explain more about these questions.
But I'm on 1.3.8, and it's obvious to me I need to apply patches. I also see recommendations to bite the bullet & go to 1.3.9sr1. I'm slightly intimidated at doing that much, don't know if 1.3.8sr's are just as complex.
If I stay on 1.3.8 & apply sr's, do I need to apply them one-by-one in order? Do I need to do things like backup or export the database, then restore with sr's? Or only if I just jump to 1.3.9sr2?
Thanks for the info...again, love Geeklog, and I'll publish my URL after I think I'm a bit more secure.

Exactly.

All the 1.3.8 versions use the same database layout, so there's no need to upgrade the database - just install the upgrades.
Since 1.3.10 isn't that far away any more (one more release candidate ...), I'd say upgrade to 1.3.8-1sr6 now (really - there were important fixes) and then go to 1.3.10 when it's out, skipping 1.3.9.
bye, Dirk

Awesome, Dirk! I like that answer, and those patch descriptions were pretty convincing, so I'll do this.
***Wait, cancel the rest of this, I just read Dirk's reply more carefully! Thanks again, all questions on upgrade answered for now.***
Do I simply install 1.3.8-1sr6, or do I install all previous patches for 1.3.8 up to & including sr6?
Thanks again! Tom
