Database Backup Question!

I'm hoping to use the built-in backup facility on my new Geeklog site, but it's marked "N/A" and attempts to use it get "ERROR: Directory /usr/local/www/vhosts/*deleted*.com/geeklog-1.3.8/backups/ is not accessible."
I'll soon post the domain name! I'm not wanting to quite yet until I perform security patches, as it's v1.3.8.
The backups directory exists, "drwxr-xr-x", and only contains the README which says nothing helpful about this problem.
Thanks for any suggestions! Tom Stockman

That's normal - it simply doesn't display anything after the entry in the Admin block.

Which means that it's not writable (maybe it should say that ...).
Permissions for this directory can be tricky, as Geeklog (i.e. the webserver) starts an external application (mysqldump) which then attempts to write into the backup directory.
Try being more liberal with the write permissions for the directory (777 if all else fails).
bye, Dirk

Thanks again, Dirk, spot-on...glad I mentioned the directory protections, the msg did sound like that could be privs.
On to the next problem...this one I think I think have to solve with my ISP & server, where is mysqldump? Can't find it on my virtual server, so it'll be on the server that hosts mysql...
Thanks again, I'll do some research before I bug anyone here with that particular problem!
