Problems Adding New Items to 'Links', 'Users', 'Events', Among Others

Hi all,

I successfully installed GeekLog v1.3.9sr2 but am having
problems adding new items in the Links, Users, and Events sections.

For example:
In the 'User Manager' page (user.php),when the 'New User'
link is clicked, Geeklog merely refreshes the same page, instead
of forwarding the appropriate submission form.

Same behavior for Links and Events too.

Do you guys know what might be causing this in my settings?
Thx

Just a guess, but first try checking to see that your cache settings in your browser are set to "check for new page every time" (or similar)... That is a first step with any dynamic site where content doesn't seem to refresh properly... IE is set to 'Automatic" in many cases, and I never trust their settings, so I force it to the check every time.

Secondly, I'd also look at your error logs to see if any error is showing up in GL...

Good luck.

Why 1.3.9sr2 when 1.3.10 has been out for a while now?

Make sure you have register_globals = On

Thanks guys, the 'register_globals' setting was the culprit.
Fixed a few other problems as well.

LOL Dirk... I tend to hang back a couple of months with GL updates so I can see all the bugs emerge and subsequent fixes before I go forward with a production release... Have it running on my laptop and then this forum really is carefully watched before pushing forward with updates ;>Wink

Question: The "REGISTER_GLOBALS" seems to be such a universal issue in PHP that I often wonder why it isn't left on be default by the good folks at Zend?? Is this a security issue that they are addressing?

That's an okay strategy for existing sites, but it sounded like zampano just did a fresh install ...

Read the FAQ Isn't it a security risk to have register_globals=on?

Heh... Looks like "strict" interpretation of certain language rules that one sees in other languages out in the big bad world... Makes sense to me now... Many thanks! Mr. Green
