Making headlines linked
Goat
Anonymous
Hi,
My website is www.worldfootynews.com and I changed the headings of articles to be links for easier use for readers and for Google etc to easier follow through to the articles. I followed the instructions at:
http://www.geeklog.net/faqman/index.php?op=view&t=40
and the headings became links okay, but when I added the stuff to make the headings larger, there was no change. I triple checked my changes and that they were saved, and I refreshed my window on my site and no change. Ive changed the fixes back to normal except for the links bit for now.
Am I doing something stupid? Sorry if the answer is already out there, but I couldnt find it.

I've kept playing, and it seems that part of my confusion was that cPanel is leaving blank lines at the end of my files, but GL isn't complaining, just ignoring the file it seems.
Nevertheless, it isn't responding correctly. I can't get the font size to change when I use . When the heading came out as the same size I fiddled with style.css to make sure it was big text:
h1{
color:#000000;
font-size: 200%; display: inline;
font:12px Tahoma,verdana,helvetica,arial,sans-serif
}
But I've now realised that font-size and font don't work together, so I've used:
h1{
color:#000000;
font:17px Tahoma,verdana,helvetica,arial,sans-serif
}
So now my headings are bigger, but the box around them is too big. I was fiddling with that to make sure I was editing the right file, but I've put it back the way it was, at height 22, but it is still coming aout wider:
{story_title}
And I've checked for trailing blank lines etc with no success. Got me beat.

Sorry, my last post had html which got translated so you can't see it. The point was that I have the height set to 22 but it still comes out wider like it is 80 or something - lots of space around the heading text. Any ideas?

you may want to check to see if there are overriding styles in your thtml files.

I think the problem was that when I increased the font-size I got rid of:
font-size: 100%; display: inline;
in style.css but putting it back in seems to have done the trick.
Thanks.
