Renaming directories

With so many hackers doing the rounds I was wondering if it might be a wise move to rename some of the GL directories, in particular the Admin. I have tried it with limited results on a LAN setup but wondered if anyone has really attacked the directory structure without serious rewrites to the remaining code.
Anyones experiences would be appreciated and any pitfalls to watch would be even more appreciated.

What kind of issues are you running into? I'm going to test on my own too now that you bringed it up? My understanding is you just edit the config.php line $_CONF['site_admin_url'] to point at your admin diretory (what ever you want to call it). I will test to see if I have any problems.

I tried it, the only problem I had with my toolbox plugin, but that could/should be easily corrected as it probably just as the admin path hardcoded somewhere. OTher than that, the site seemed to work, fine and the admin functions, but I didn't really do a whole let of testing myself.
The only pitfalls I would guss is if on some plugins or other downloads, tha the path ./admin was hardcoded into the plugin's operation.

I have not had any issues as yet that made me want to make changes.
I have altered a couple of directories in config.php on a LAN setup and not had any problems but this this is not on a 'live' installation, which was my reason for asking if anyone had tried and had any problems. I had done a search in some parts of the script for hardcoded Admin but never come up with anything obvious, that is not there isn't. Perhaps Dirk could add comment if he feels it appropriate.
I was ready to switch this to a live site this week but with 1.3.11 looming thought I had better wait just in case there was something serious in 1.3.10.
Thanks for comment.

Quote by Dirk: As far as Geeklog itself is concerned, renaming the admin directory is a guaranteed feature (assuming you adjust $_CONF['site_admin_url'] accordingly).
