allow user to backup database

I would like a logged in user to backup the database. There isn't a group for this and I don't want to give the user root rights.
Can anything be done?

Have a look at admin/database.php. There's a line that starts with
You could create a new group, say, 'Database Admin', and replace the 'Root' with the name of that group. Then add the user to the 'Database Admin' group.

Text Formatted Code
if (!SEC_inGroup ('Root') OR ...You could create a new group, say, 'Database Admin', and replace the 'Root' with the name of that group. Then add the user to the 'Database Admin' group.

thanks for your reply.
I did what you said but when I run the backup as the user the page reports `backup complete` but dosn't show the backup in the `Last 10 Back-ups` list.
Any other ideas.

Hmm, I don't see why that shouldn't work. Are backups working for you (i.e. if you log in as the Admin user)?
Also, be aware that you can have only one backup per day. So if you make a second backup, it will overwrite the previous one.
