Let me first say that I am having a blast with this web and I'm beginning to feel comfortable with it.
However, I haven't discovered how to alter the picture size limitation when posting a story. Can anyone give me a hand on this?

Check your config.php file.

Sometimes some things aren't as obvious to us lesser folks.
In your config.php look for this line
// Story image settings
$_CONF['max_image_width'] = 640; // In pixels
$_CONF['max_image_height'] = 640; // In pixels
$_CONF['max_image_size'] = 2097152; // 1048576 = 1MB
This is what I have set mine to.
