Hi, I'm trying to install Forum & several attempts haven't worked, so I'm starting over again.

I'm on a linux server, command "zip" doesn't exist, so I unzipped on my local windows box & used ws_ftp to transfer files to the server--however I'm now seeing that all files apparantly xfer in binary mode, even with the "automatic mode" box checked.

Anyone know how I can instead unzip the file on the server directly? If tar can handle this file, I haven't figured out the options...thanks for any help!

it shouldn't even matter. i would just go on ahead and start your installation. if you get any errors, then i would find a better way to unzip the files.

There's usually an "unzip" on every Linux box ...

bye, Dirk

Thanks for checking in, Dirk, but oddly enough this box doesn't have it. I did give that a try, but it just ain't there. If I cared, I'd probably try to find a version of unzip for the box...

But I followed "anonymous"'s advice above, and proceeded..and, once I worked thru enough other problems, I've now proved that it doesn't matter if all files are xferred "bin".

At this point I'm close to success, I think, machinari's help has been superb--thanks again to both of you! Tom
