I get the message that an sql error has occured and that I should check the log. Here is what the log says.

Duplicate entry '3' for key 1. SQL in question: INSERT INTO gl_userprefs (uid) VALUES (3)

The user is created, but no email goes out to the user, and they get no confirmation message on the screen, just the error message that says to check the log.

What can I do to fix this?

From the user login on the front page of the site. I just clicked on Sign Up as A New User.

I just tried it to so I could write down the steps I took, but it has mysteriously started working normally. So I guess it cured itself?
