happy

I've created a revised version of the Whos Online block which determines real-time the country of origin the visitor is viewing the site from.

My international friends gave me the idea. So after a few late nights tweaking and updating, I finally got it working. It displays the flags of the visitor country along with the number of visitors from that particular country all in real-time. It does take into consideration logged-in users versus guest users. Very clean and will display as many countries in a nice formatted way. So I would appreciate as many international visitors checking the site out and filling up the block!

I would really appreciate some feedback on this block. I am cleaning up the code and if interest is good, I will post the code after I polish it up more.

Nice looking site, some great photos as well. I like the look and concept of you online block. When I logged in from Australia my flag did not show up. I would be interested in this block once you have cleaned it up and I am willing to help do testing if you need help. I am running GL1.4.1 on my test site.

The IP address table is out of date. Working on receiving an updated table and adding some additional code to address the unknown addresses. Thanks for the comments!

My apologies to all the folks that have been patiently waiting. I went "off the grid" for a while and was unable to finish the code. I finally sat down to finish polishing the code. Everything appears to be working. Before packaging the code for download, I would appreciate everyone collaborating with their international buddies to display as many countries as possible on my site. The online-block is set to display four countries per line. I would like to have at least twelve countries+ displayed at once to make sure the routine works. If anyone can email me a snapshot of the online block with the countries displayed, it will give me the verification I need to make sure the code works. You can email me the picture-clip at gmon750 at msn.com The IP address table is current as of April 2007. The packaging will include documentation to download the current IP address table from GeoIP. I'm sorry for taking so long. I look forward to hearing from you guys with the final testing results! You can view website with the block here. Eddie

Thanks to those who sent me the clips! It's interesting to see the various countries that have visited! What would be super-helpful is to have the block filled with concurrent countries so that I can verify the code is stable. So far, the clips emailed to me were only one one or two countries at a time. I know that will function.

For those that have friends in various countries, have them visit the site at the same time and email me the snapshot. Preferably, I'd like to see at least 12 countries at one time. I've seen it before!

Any help would be appreciated!

Eddie

The site looks great. I'd recommend changing the font in your footer to something a little more readable though.
