I have looked threw everything I can find and I don't see anything on this.
I can creat a poll but when I go to vote it does not store the vote. i am sure one of my paths are wrong or somthing but I can not find it. I upgraded from 1.3.9 to 1.3.11 the poll that I had up befor the upgrade is there with the votes that were already loged but now it will not except any more votes. I have had people from accross the country try and vote and it will not log them so I know it is not the cookies storing the IP's. I have also made a new poll and tried to vote myself and it will not log the vote.

I am new at this and one thing I did wrong with my update was the way I set up the path to my site. it is now "edit" so I think this may have screwed up a path for the polls somewhere.

Have you tried voting under a different theme e.g. Professional?

Here is what i did wrong in the first place. My server came with geeklog as a plug in script. I have one main domane www.flatratetech.com and lots of sub domanes. The plug in script had to be installed in a top level directory so on my origonal install I installed it there. where I realy want it is in a subdomain www.fordtechnews.com. At this point I realy don't care to start moving averthing around I just want to get it working.

You said to post my paths. That is my problem I don't know where to find the paths for the polls. i have looked in the pollboth and in the config files and don't see them.

Everything else on the site works just fine so I am a little confused.

Thank you for your help

All I'm interested in is :
$_CONF['path']
$_CONF['path_html']
and
$_CONF['site_url']

Text Formatted Code
// +---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
// | (2) Paths                                                                 |
// +---------------------------------------------------------------------------+

// Note for Windows users: It's safe to use the forward slash '/' instead of
// the backslash '' in paths. Make sure each path starts with a drive letter!

// This should point to the directory where your config.php file resides.
$path = '/home/flatrate/public_html/ftn/';
$_CONF['path'] = $path;
// You only need to change this if you moved or renamed the public_html
// directory. In that case, you should specify the complete path to the
// directory (i.e. without the $_CONF['path']) like this:
// $_CONF['path_html']      = '/path/to/your/public_html/';
$_CONF['path_html']         = '/home/flatrate/public_html/ftn/public_html/';

// +---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
// | (3) Site Settings                                                         |
// +---------------------------------------------------------------------------+

// Make sure this is the correct URL to your site, i.e. to where Geeklog's
// index.php file resides (no trailing slash).
$_CONF['site_url']          = 'http://flatratetech.com/ftn/public_html';

Your paths look ok Confused
Have you tried configuration without this $path
i.e. $_CONF['path'] = '/home/flatrate/public_html/ftn/';

Maybe this is what confuses the polls Wink
I've run out of ideas

Yes I tried that when I set it up. Nothing worked.
Thanks for your help.

Could it be a permission problem?? If so would it be the poll_booth or a differant file?

Location:The Netherlands, where else?
In which directory are the public files? Normally you install Geeklog in /home/flatrate/.

You have installed it in /home/flatrate/public_html/ftn/

So your path to html is indeed /home/flatrate/public_html/ftn/public_html.

But does that second public_html directory really excist ? Just a stupid question, hope it helps..

Good luck!

Yes the directory does exist and everything that was in that folder when I unzipped the package is still in that folder.

I have been playing with it today and have performed a new install into the directory that I wanted to put the files in the first place. it is now http://fordtechnews/public_html/
I have the same situation everything in the system works except the polls Confused

Ok I lied I found one more thing that does not work.
I am using the profesional theme. If I use the standared search box it works fine but if I use the advanced search box The page just loops and clears itself with no search results.
I did try this with the smooth blue theme as well and got the same results but it does not have two options for a search

Warren, I just responded to your email request for more info about protections, hopefully that'll help you experiment with the various directories I had to set to 777, and might help you with the learning curve on Unix protections!

Let us know if it reveals anything!
