Single Topic Story Block

I need a right block that displays linked story titles to n most recent storys in topic X. Any advice or pointers to code would be greatly appreciated.

the quickest way I know to do this is just to create a new portal block using your own site's feed in that block. you can limit the feed to a particular topic.
