I have searched the forums here, and I suppose I'm just not using the right search string. Right Now my site is up and running with very smoothly and I am using an animated gif in my header. The gif is very large 5 Mb or so. I also have it in a flash format, but believe it or not there are alot of people out there without flash installed. Basically what I have done is cut the gif into 6 different header iamges, and I would like to rotate this through automatically as the page refreshs. Anyone have any clue on how I would do this? There is a script out there somewhere I'm assumming. Thank You.

You can use PHP in header.thtml and PHP has this nice random function ...

You must be kidding ... putting 5 x 1Mb GIF in your header ...

Even if people don´t have Flash installed and do have a very good broadband connection a 1 Mb GIF can easily choke up older computers ...

Unless you have a very selective targeted audience that will accept such a thing, I would suggest to reconsider ...

Just my Just my two cents

I have incorporated a php solution that alternates images for me. I'm not a php coder but i found this hereI have it working now at my site. I really did like my mini movie, but this will do. Thanks everyone.

Hi Newblogger,

Since I noted they are static images now, may I suggest you change them into a jpeg format and don´t use gif.

Since they are mainly "images" and not graphics, you can easily lower the size of your images from your current 150 Kb to something as a 20 Kb with the same or even a better quality if you use optimized jpegs instead of gifs.

Just another copper, but truely worth the efforth.

Good luck with the 4x4

Boris
