how long is too long?
took 5 seconds server side... and a few more to load all those images (dial up).
Do you control the server?

There is of course an FAQ for this: How can I speed up my Geeklog site?

You also seem to have the stats plugin running, which is known to require some resources. And you shouldn't really display it to anonymous visitors, as it only encourages referres spam.

bye, Dirk

No wonder, there are lots of heavy images on your homepage. It takes 71 seconds to load your homepage with dialup.

Use Firefox with the Developer menubar extension to find out yourself, or have a look at http://www.websiteoptimization.com/services/analyze/wso.php?url=http://www.iantiquesguide.com/

Your problem is the images, as well as the stats plug in.
You also have a theme that requires a lot of images to load. Just changing from the theme you are using to the professional theme incleased the speed of my site by about 3 sec.
One other thing you could do is change the default numper of stories to 5 instead of ten. This way it would cut out some of the images that show up on the home page. Users could alway change this if they wanted more stories per page.

Thank you.
I have removed the stats plugin. That seems to help. Where do I change the amount of stories shown on the home page?

$_CONF['limitnews'] in config.php. That's only the default value for anonymous and new users, though, and will be overridden by the setting in your Preferences.

bye, Dirk
