newbie question: editing submission forms, and basic content question

I have two questions which I will probably get hassled for but....
I have the newest geeklog installed and fully functioning. I know html, know next to nothing but the most basic stuff about php and mysql, so bear with me on that.
1. How do I add other entries to the submission form. My site will be a review site of sorts and I want to add things like address and cost.
2. The dumb question.... How do I edit content in the right column? I want to swap out info about geeklog for info about my site. I have read the faq a couple of times, tried to search (but wasn't sure what words to use), checked documentation, looked through: the english file, php files of my theme, the header.thmtl files, and an ass load of thtml files. I can't find this content anywhere and don't seem to find index.php linking to it? I also check config.php somewhat though I doubt it should be there. It is frustrating because when I view page source I can find it and would be able to edit it if it were html.
thanks for tolerating my ignorance.

You can't just simply add input fields etc. You also need some code that handles them, stores the data, retrieves it for display later, etc.

It's just a "normal block". Go to Admins Only -> Blocks -> "About Geeklog"
Also see the FAQ: What are the different block types for?
bye, Dirk

Thanks! Got the block thing down.
Are there any resources on taking the steps to learn how to code that? I assume it would be in PHP and mysql?
Thanks.
