I have received feedback from several people that as of the very day I enabled the Gallery plug-in on my site, the entire site slowed down.
I have created a right-side block on the index page that loads 3 thumbnails, but they're hardcoded img tags within the block, I wouldn't think that would do it.
Anyone else see this problem? The only possible explanation I can think of is that maybe SE spiders and bots are hitting Gallery pages so hard everything slows down on the server, but that seems like a stretch.
Thanks for any ideas--
Tom

Your users are probably on dial up. You should compress your images more, there is one that is 94k and another that is 35k both could be much smaller. I didn't check the others but I am sure you can optimize them as well.
Yes I am mental.

Have a look at the weather content thingie you have installed.
When I opened the link firefox told me it was waiting for weathercontent.com and not for your site.
Guess that is causing some hickups for some people.
Installing blocks that are dependent on other partners/webservers always have the risk of slowing down your site, especially in a table driven layout as it needs to know the final layout before it can render it.

Fully agree, but that are not the gallery images. They are only 8 Kb which is fine.
The ones of arcana and the top one in the middle frame are indeed way to big and can be downsized, but they were there before gallery.
The weather plugin I can´t really recall seeing much earlier as the gallery integration.
So resize:

Change to GIF:

And do have a look at the weather thingie

Thank you all...Boris, your comments in particular are leading me to changes I'll make and test. You've commented on several issues that I will check very thoroughly.
Dr, I'll check with my users that are reporting slowdowns, I am on DSL currently and I also see the slow response. Your comment may lead me to a better understanding of my site's slow load.
JVV, thanks, I do know that some of the photos on my site are hi-res, I would hope that it wouldn't slow the home page down, but I'm gonna check, I don't know the product (GL) enough to rule out what you say. So I'll find out.
