I have just added the geeklog forum to my site. All is working well, until I want to use the admin controls. It will allow me to access the admin pages, but I cant do anything - such as add mods, create boards, e.t.c. It just comes up with "Connot find server". I have made sure that all the files are in the correct places and they are, but it still wont work and let me do these admin things.

Please help.

Sounds like a problem with the URL. Check what it's actually trying to load ...

bye, Dirk

It says it is trying to load the correct pages. To add a new forum board category it tries to load:

http://index/admin/plugins/forum/boards.php?mode=add&type=category

Then it just comes up with "Cannot find server"

Please continue giving advice.

The URL isn't correct, it should be http://www.your_domain.com/admin/plugins/forum/boards.php?mode=add&type=category.

Have you hacked any of the forum files? It's strange that everything else works.

time to hack! give this a shot.
find /public_html/admin/plugins/forum/boards.php and at about line 63, change this:
Text Formatted Code
        $boards_addcategory->set_var ('phpself', $PHP_SELF);

to this:
Text Formatted Code
        $boards_addcategory->set_var ('PHPSELF', $PHP_SELF);

notice I changed 'phpself' to uppercase--this is to accommodate the template file, which refers to an uppercase variable. some systems like case sensitivity.

hope that helps. if it does, it will only fix one function/form. the rest will need to change according to whether or not the respective template file is looking for a lowercase or uppercase variable. You'll have to go thru them to find out. I looked quickly and noticed that some are and some are not.... It may be easier just to make sure that the template files all refer to a lowercase var as boards.php uses lowercase throughout.
keep in mind, I only looked at boards.php. if your problem extends to other admin pages, just continue.

Sorry, but this still does not solve the problem. What else could it be to do with. I tried you ideas above (ALL OF THEM) and none seem to have worked. I know that hundreds of folk have been able to install this forum - so what could it be????

P.S I may not have fully understood the above idea. What do you mean exactly?
