Error Message
I have just copied my geeklog directory onto my new website and have got this message. I have change the [my_URL] to the new address in the config file and I think in the lib-common file, but I get this message when I try to access the geeklog directory:
Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_CONSTANT_ENCAPSED_STRING in /home/sites/best-entertainment.co.uk/public_html/index/lib-common.php on line 4300
What does it mean - Can I fix it.
I would be very thankful for any replies.

I just did that and now I get this message:
Warning: mysql_connect(): Access denied for user 'cms_31'@'localhost' (using password: YES) in /home/sites/best-entertainment.co.uk/public_html/index/_files/system/databases/mysql.class.php on line 108
Cannnot connect to DB server
Anyone any idea on how to fix it?

This means that your database user is not correct.
You should check in config.php that your database settings are correct.
Especially if you copied them from a different website, you will have to change these to the new database settings.
Best Regards,
Boris

I may sound stupid, but I need to ask you for more help. I have found out that I did not have a my_sql set up!!! So I set one up and put the new user_name and passowrd into the config file at the right place. Then I tried it again. Now I get this message:
An SQL error has occured. Please see error.log for details.
I have looked at the config file, but I dont understand what it is asking. A copy of the error.log file can be found here if you would like to view the log. Please continue to help.
I would be thankful for any replies.

Seems installing did not go 100% correct. Delete the database, make a new database with same name/user/pass and run the installscript again. 5 minutes work, so it's worth trying.

I dont have a folder called install, nor a file called install.php???
Well I'm about to give up - The reason I want to be able to move the site to the new address is so that I wouldn't have to redo all the content again!!!
If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. If not then I'll just install Geeklog again - though I hope I wont have to!!! You see I have had this site running perfectly before and now I have to move it to a different domain name, so I copied my geeklog directory folder over to my hard drive and copied it back onto the new site's FTP. Now I have had all these problems with it. You have helped me solve the first few, but does anyone know how to fix the current one.
In one of my other postings in this thread there is a link to a copy of the error.log file which it tells me to look at in the current message I get when trying to access my site which is:
An SQL error has occured. Please see error.log for details.
Anyone get any ideas?
Please keep helping.
Thanks.

I would hope so, since you're asked to remove it after the initial install
Btw, did you see this FAQ entry? Migrating a Geeklog site
bye, Dirk

Couldn't you just download GL extract everything from it. Find the install.php file from that extraction and put it into your directory. I don't know if this works, but it sounds like it should.
Good luck,
Ofey
Those who say it can't be done, are usually interrupted by others doing it.
